Skateboard Baby Quilt

My nephew is almost 45 years old and is going to be a Dad for the first time, in September. Growing up and well into his adulthood, he was an avid skateboarder. I thought this design would work great for his baby.

I love to piece quilt backs, this one is no exception.  The finished quilt measures 34 x 46 inches, I think it's the perfect size for a baby.

I've put bindings on three quilts today.  I started with six quilts that needed to be finished and my plan was to put the binding on two quilts a day, on Friday, Saturday and today.  As they say, "Best laid plans of mice and men often go awry."  Friday and Saturday didn't see any sewing, so next week I hope to get the next three finished.  All three are large, so maybe one a day.

The Back of the Skateboard Quilt.

I really like to piece the quilt backs I make.  I think the piecing gives the finished quilt an added umph.  For the front of the Skateboard quilt, I used part of a layer cake and some coordinating fabric from my stash; I echoed those on the back.  I also had some leftover wheel units from the front; so I strung those together for more interest.  The word fabric is by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics.

Now to get these to my LAQ, so she can work her magic.

A New Look and A New Start

Skateboards!  Can you tell they're skateboards?  I got my idea at MSQC.  My nephew is almost 45 years old and is going to be a Dad for the first time, in September.  Growing up and well into his adulthood, he was an avid skateboarder.  I thought this design would work great for his baby.

Right now, the quilt top measures 35" x 45".  I was planning on adding a couple of small borders, but I'm going to ponder that decision and decide tomorrow.  Now, I need to get ready to teach Tai Chi, always busy, never bored.

Please tell me your opinion, border, no border.  By the way, how do you like my blogs' new look?
