A Plea for Help

Darci from Stitches and Scissors has posted a plea for help.  Her nephew, 18, was hit by a car and needs extensive medical care.  Rather than re-hash her post, I'm going to copy and paste part of it below.  Please help, if you can.  Any amount.

My Nephew needs your help!

My 18 year old nephew, Tanner Olsen, was hit by a car in Cedar City, Utah,on Monday December 10th. He was life flighted to Las Vegas, Neveda and is still undergoing treatment for a smashed femur and multiple broken bones in his face. The broken femur will require approximately 4 - 5 surgeries and it will be more than a year before he is able to walk. He will also require many reconstructive surgeries to repair his face. Insurance is not going to cover any of this medical expenses.

I have set up a Fundraiser to help his family with the medical expenses. The Tanner Olsen Fund .

If you can donate anything that would be really amazing and helpful to my sister and her family to pay for all the medical expenses. They live in Cedar City, Utah, and are with him in Las Vegas almost 200 miles from their home. If you are willing to spread the word that would be amazing. Please keep my nephew, Tanner, in you prayers and his family! Thank you everyone for being so awesome.
 Love, Darci "

I've noticed that quilters are givers

I thought I'd mention my grandson's fundraising efforts.

That's Brett, my 15 year old grandson, in the middle of the photo.  He's been  selected to be part of  a soccer team that will travel to Rio De Janeiro and San Paolo, Brazil, to play soccer against teams from all over South America.  Brett's a good athlete and he loves soccer.  When he was about 9 years old, he told me he was going to be the next Beckham!  How's that for confidence!

He lives and breathes soccer, this is the soccer quilt I  made him for his birthday, last year.

In order to go to Brazil, he has to raise money, a lot of money, over $3,000.  If you'd like to help, here's the link to his fundraising page:  http://fca.clubambassadors.org/362.  There's a chance to win a Caribbean vacation, too.

What else do you need to know about Brett?  In addition to being a great athlete, he's handsome smart and likes to read.  Help out, if you can.

Sew Red for Women, can I get a Woot, woot.

In our family, the women really don't have heart disease, we're lucky.  But I know things can change, in a heart-beat, and I've always supported the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women.  I always have some of their little lapel pins to pass out, and wear one on my lanyard at work.

Now, one of the quilters has started Sew Red for Women.

There'll be a blog hop, starting next month.  "Some of today's most talented bloggers and designers are creating blocks just for Sew Red for Women's Blog Hop! 12 Months of Red & White 12" blocks that will finish into a Heart Healthy heirloom that you will cherish for a life time. And with your completed quilt, is the daily reminder that your heart is at the center of your body and health!

Don't want to make an entire quilt- no problem! Any of our blocks can be used to make smaller projects! Placements, bags, mini quilts there is no limit!"

I'm a follower, why don't you follow, too, to see what'll happen.  (I'm posting this on two blogs, I hope no one minds.)
