Last night I recalled a recent conversation I had with a neighbor. Bob and I met this couple before our houses were built. We bought lot #144, and they bought lost # 146, on the same day. That's when we met, months before our houses were built and ready for us. Ed and Esther are good neighbors; we have keys to each others homes.
About 10 years ago, Esther started changing; and these changes slowly progressed to dementia. She's only about 5 years older than I am, so it's early. Ed's her caregiver and he does a terrific job. Ed and I chatted out on the street, the way neighbors do, and he caught me up on how his wife was doing. Esther has been on my mind and I decided to make her a quilt.
Her favorite color is purple. I think she wears more purple than anyone I know. I happen to have a lot of purple in my stash because I have a lot of fabric and one of my daughters also loves purple.
This is the stack of fabric I pulled. The ones that look light gray and white are lavenders. Eleven prints and seven solids.
May your bobbins always be full,
