Log Cabin Quilt Top is finished

I decided that sashing and a border would work will with these Log Cabin blocks.  I included bits and pieces of leftover fabric in most of the sashing pieces.

Log Cabin blocks using 1.5" wide strips means lots of pressing!

I'm so happy with how this quilt top turned out.  It's not perfect, but I love it!

A close up of all the sashing bits and pieces.  The finished measurement is 61" by 76".

Log Cabins

Well, I think I'm done building Log Cabin Blocks.  I stopped at five rounds and I'm calling them good.  Next I'll be adding some sashing.  Below are photos of the progress, up to this point.

Still building Log Cabins

There's been more construction on my house than on these Log Cabin blocks, but I'm getting there slowly but surely.  Right now the blocks measure about 11.5 inches square, which would make a small 44 x 55 inch quilt; so I'm going to keep going and make the blocks larger.  I have no plans for this quilt, and right now bigger seems better.

Hope you're having a great week.  What have you been working on?

Building Log Cabins

I've been wanting to make a Log Cabin block quilt; this is my first one.  (I've made a couple of quilts with the Courthouse Step variation.)  I ordered up some Cotton + Steel Moon Rabbit in Navy and two Kona Skinny Strip pack.  I've gotten two complete rows around the centers.  Lots more to do, but so far, I'm happy with how the blocks are turning out.  I'm being creatively lazy and just taking the strips in the order they're on the roll.

The bottom photo is my attempt to get a decent photo, yesterday.  No luck, because of the stiff breeze.
