Sew Hometown Quilt

This is the Inspiring Stitches BOM Quilt Project from 2019 called Sew Hometown.  I pieced the quilt top last year, simultaneously with the Heartland Heritage quilt top.  The two quilt tops kept me pretty busy.  There is one glaring error in this top, and I decided to just leave it.

Heartland Heritage Quilt

It's a "binding kinda week".  this is the first of four quilts that came back from the LAQ.  This one is from the Inspiring Stitches BOM Quilt Project for 2018.  The original had a sewing machine block in it, but I changed it because I give most of my quilts away, and I thought few people would be excited about a sewing machine.

Above is the pieced quilt back and below is a group photo of the two quilts that are finished, so far.

Sew Hometown Quilt Top is complete

The 2nd Inspiring Stitches quilt top is assembled.  I sewed the BOMs for both years consecutively.  This is the top from the 2019 BOM calendar.  It went together really fast and I'm very happy with the result. The two variations in this one are the butterfly block and one of the star blocks.  

This was finished on Wednesday, photographed on Thursday and posted on Friday!  Now to decide on the quilt backs for these two.

December BOM, 2018 and 2019

What a relief!  I finished the December block for both years of the Inspiring Stitches calendar BOMs!
With my busy schedule, it was a challenge to keep up with doing both at the same time, but I challenged myself, and I made it!

Fir Tree blocks

Moving right along, these Fir Tree blocks for the November 2019 #inspiringstitches #sewhometown #bom were so much fun to make and way easier than the Tulip blocks. I was a tad disappointed in the trunks, but I'm not redoing them.

Tulip Blocks

These are the 5 Tulip Blocks for the November 2018 Inspiring Stitches, Heartland Heritage quilt. 

When I worked for a custom picture framer, we would add an extra charge for any customer who we deemed a Pain In the Ass or a PIA charge.  If these blocks were a customer, they would definitely be paying more than the nice quilt blocks!

But, they are done!  Now on to the 2019 November blocks.

Finch Quilt Block

These five 6.5" blocks took forever; not because they were difficult, but because life kept getting in the way of stitching!  They are the October blocks for the 2019 Inspiring Stitches calendar BOM. 

The old backyard bench that I used for a prop for my quilt/quilt block photos was over 20 years old and falling apart.  I replaced it this month with two new red benches.  They are a bit smaller but I love red as an accent.  The first photo I took was using the bench in partial sunlight, below, not good,  Using the bench in the shade worked much better.

Spotlight Blocks

Yay for me!  These 5 Spotlight blocks are for the Sew Hometown quilt from the 2018 Inspiring Stitches calendar.  They are the October blocks.  Now, on to the October blocks for 2019.

Starbust quilt blocks

I love the birds on the background fabric!  These are for the Sew Hometown September 2019 BOM by Inspiring Stitches.  I'm really enjoying making the blocks.  Working on two years worth at the same time may be insane, but hey, I'm a quilter.  Now on to the October blocks for 2018 and 2019.

Inspiring Stitches, Willow Tree

These are the 4 Willow Tree blocks for the September 2018 Inspiring Stitches Heartland Heritage quilt. I don't have much green in my stash but I think I got a wide enough variety.  These blooks took WAY longer than I'd planned.  I really don't think they look at all like Willow Trees, but they're finished!  Tomorrow I'll start on the September 2019 blocks, hopefully, they won't be as time-consuming.

Caught Up!

With these 6 butterfly blocks, I'm all caught up with my BOM commitments.  I really didn't like the butterfly blocks for August for the Sew Hometown Calendar Quilt Along, so I made these.  They're not perfect but they are done.  It's a relief because I'm leaving town on Thursday for 8 days and I hate to be behind schedule.

Playing Catch--up

My life has been busy, probably just like everyone else's.  For the July 2018 and 2019 Inspiring Stitches BOM, I just said, NO.  I didn't like either one of the blocks; so I improvised and came up with the blocks above.  Three for 2018 and four for 2019.

Then it was on to August 2018.  The blocks above are called Sweet Pea Blocks; they are perfectly imperect and I love them.  Now, to tackle the August 2019 blocks.  I hope to get them finished before I leave town next week.  Wish me luck!

Inspiring Stitches Block of the Month Quilt Project ~ June 2019

One of these is not like the others, but at least they're finished!

I haven't posted all the blocks I've made, but I'm caught up on both years, through June2018 and 2019.  Now to work on the July blocks for both years. 

Traveling and a jammed up machine delayed this finish.  I pick the repaired machine up tomorrow and for my birthday, while I was on a Baseball Tour in Cleveland, I ordered a new sewing machine and that's what I've been stitching on.

Opps!

It's not hard to miss.  One of these is not like the others.  I've decided that I don't care.  These 9.5" blocks are for the Inspiring Stitches Sew Hometown 2019 BOM.  They are a lot of fun and the patterns for each month are well written.  Any errors are mine!

Inspiring Stitches Block of the Month Quilt Project ~ March 2018

I'm early!  But then, I'm always early, just ask my daughters!  Of all my faults, I think being early is my best one.  This time I'm early for a good reason, I'm leaving in one week for Nashville, to volunteer at Quiltcon; I didn't want to start a new project and these blocks filled the time.  

The BOM calendar calls for 3 of these 12.5" blocks; I made one extra because I may not make the sewing machine block that is part of the plan.  Since I'm not making this quilt for anyone in particular, I'm thinking that using the sewing machine blocks could limit the future "gift-giving" potential.  I'm trying to plan ahead.  If I decide to make the sewing machine block, I can always use the extra block in something else.  

Which of these 4 is your favorite?  My favorite is the 2nd one, but it's hard to choose.

Inspiring Stitches Block of the Month Quilt Project ~ February 2018

Well, I'm on a roll!  These are the (5) 9.5" Barn blocks for the 2018 Inspiring Stitches BOM for February.  No outdoor photos today, it's raining.

Now, I'll do my fabric pull for the 2019 version.  It's a small block called Bird House.

Inspiring Stitches Block of the Month Quilt Project ~ January 2019

Well, I decided to go for it!  These are the January 2019 blocks from the Inspiring Stitches Block of the Month Quilt Project for this year, called Sew Hometown.

I really love these house blocks and decided to fussy-cut little birds to go in the windows.
