And the Winner is

The winner of the four charm packs is Dana of the blog Stormy Days.  I was suppose to do the draw on Sunday, but life got in my way.  I'm never late for anything, but I can no longer say that.  I've sent Dana an email.

A Giveaway for My Quilting Anniversary.

I announced a giveaway, at bottom of my last post.  Yay!  But I fail to tell when the drawing would be.  Duh!

I've decided to up the ante, I added two more Charm Packs to the deal.

To celebrate my quilting anniversary, I'm giving away two Charm Packs of Aviary by 3 Sisters for Moda and two Charm Packs of Tweet Tweet by Keiki for Moda. To be eligible to win, like the Janice Elaine Sews page on FB, and tell me in a comment on this post that you have/had. You can also tell me what your summer plans are, quilting or otherwise, if you want. One comment per person on either blog post.  I'll draw a winner on Sunday, June 30th.

Quilting Anniversary

This month, I've been quilting for three years.  In May of 2010, I decided to begin this chapter of my life as soon as Bob and I returned from our vacation in June.  I followed my plan and dug out the Horrible Brother sewing machine I'd purchased when we moved and downsized in '98.  It had only been used a couple of times between '98 and '10.

Suddenly it was getting a lot of use and it was a PIA, (pain in the ass), believe me.  I was so happy to replace it in December of 2011 with the Wonderful Janome.

In three years I've finished 55 quilts.  I've given most of them away; those that weren't gifted, I've listed in my etsy shop.

To celebrate I'm giving away two Charm Packs of Aviary by 3 Sisters for Moda.  To be eligible to win, like the Janice Elaine Sews page on FB, and tell me in a comment on this post that you have/had.  You can also tell me what your summer plans are, quilting or otherwise, if you want.  One comment per person.

Almost time for a 100 follower giveaway

I'm ready for a new giveaway, when I reach 100 followers.  If you check my "followers box", down there on the left, you can see I'm really close to 100.  Like the other giveaways, it won't be "grand", but I hope it'll be fun.  And it should be soon.

I'm working on another red, white and blue quilt top, using the 4 patches I made, when I was making the hsts for the previous quilt.  Photos soon, but here's the stack of 4 patches, in the early stages.

Give Away of Modern Patchwork by Elizabeth Hartman.

I have two copies of Modern Patchwork by Elizabeth Hartman.  Why do I have two?  Well, I bought one, then I saw her at Book Expo America, and got a signed copy, for free!   This is not a sponsored give away, but I told Elizabeth, I would give away the one I already owned.

Modern Patchwork: 12 Quilts to Take You Beyond the Basics

This is how the give away will work:
  • You must have a blog to enter.
  • You must be a follower of this blog to enter.
  • In your comment tell me what your next sewing project will be.
  • If you follow more than one of my blogs, tell me in an additional comment which one(s) you follow, for an extra entry.
That's it, two chances to enter the give away.  There are no additional entries for blogging about it, but if you're excited about the book, go ahead and tell your readers about it.  I'll use a random number generator, next Sunday, July 1, to choose the winner.  If the winner is a no reply blogger, I'll draw some one else.

Winner, winner, you're a winner and other stuff.

The winner of my fabric give away is Alison of Little Bunny Quilts, who said:
AlisonFeb 7, 2012 12:30 PM
I would definitely take it! :)
I used the free service at random.org, so I can't show you proof.  You'll just have to trust me.

Alison has a great blog, visit her when you have a chance.

I haven't been quilting since I finished the top and back for my Swoon Quilt, which is in the hands of my long-arm quilter.  For one thing, I really needed to clean my house, Oh My, did I ever.  I also have to spend some time prepping all the tax paperwork.  Grrrh.

I now have 6 quilts to bind, so that's my next project.  As soon as all that's accomplished, I'll be able to start a new project with no guilt.

My leave at Barnes and Noble is over.  I gave them a very limited schedule availability, and they were fine with that.  They all know Bob and know that I'm still involved in his recovery.  I expect him to be pretty much back to normal in a couple of months.  I'm going to NYC, in June for the BEA, "The Book Show", and he assured me he'd be OK to join me the following week, for a cruise to Bermuda.  We love going to Bermuda.

Fugly Fabric Party

Fugly Fabric Party

Have you heard of the Fugly Fabric Party, over at Charm About You?  Lucy has organized a link-party, go see what everyone is offering.  After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Here are the general rules:

Be it fugly, ugly, not your taste or just fabric you're not likely to use. You can have a giveaway, competition, swap or offer it to anyone who'll pay the postage!

Please make sure it is cotton fabric suitable for quilting and a decent size, feel free to offer scraps if they're useable (no smaller than 5x5") but make sure it's clear in your post.

Here's my offering:

It's lovely, but I haven't used it in over 2 years.
There's 2 yards, and the salvage says Fabric Traditions, 2006.

If you're interested leave a comment.  If more than one person is interested, I'll use Random Number Generator to choose the winner.  If you're in the US, I'll pay the postage.  You can enter until Thursday, 2/9, at 5 PM, PST.

Comments are now closed.
