Ta Da Echo Quilt complete

I'm absolutely in love with how great this quilt turned out.  Here's the front:

And a close-up of the quiliting:

The stitch pattern is called Target, and I love how well the squares are "targeted".  And here's the back:

I love using bits and bobs of left-overs to make an interesting quilt back.  I used Kona Charcoal for the binding.

Echo Windmill Whimsy quilt back

Not my best photo, but the quilt back was much to huge for me to handle, alone, and get a good photo.  I only had a smidgen of Echo left from the FQ stack, after making two quilt tops and one other backing.  I used left-over solids from the other top and the few smidgens to piece this design.  This quilt back goes with this quilt top

This is my Ta Da Echo quilt top, which is currently at the long-arm quilter.  For some reason I didn't take a photo of the back of this quilt.

Echo Windmill Whimsy

Our skies are all overcast, but the light is good enough to show my completed  Echo Windmill Whimsy quilt top  Talk about wrangling fabric, this quilt top is about 64 x 90 inches!  Almost too big for Bob, my quilt-model, to hold up.  Notice he's standing on the retaining wall.

I didn't have enough Echo to make this quilt top, so I added some of my favorites that I thought worked well.  Some Heather Ross Dogs on Mustard, some Falling Flowers Peacock Lane, some Dinky Dots and a white dot on gray, that I don't know the name of.   Now I have to think of how I want to piece the back.

Echo Windmill Whimsy

I have enough Echo left to make another quilt.  Yay!  I decide to make a Windmill Whimsy quilt.  I first saw one of these quilts at Film in the Fridge.  Ashley is very talented.  I didn't use a pattern and my blocks are going to be huge.  Out of each remaining FQ, I was able to but two 9 inch squares to use for making HST's.  Each block is going to be about 22 inches!

Here the lay-out for the first block:

Then I flipped the center blocks.

Here's the two teal blocks I made today.  Can you see how they're different.  I thought changing each block up a bit will make the finished quilt more interesting.

I really like both versions.  Do you?
