The Tile Quilt is finished!

This is my original design for the American Patchwork & Quilting Two-Color Quilt Challenge. It's a simple design using only two blocks.  If it's accepted, it'll be shown at Quiltcon in February. I'm not holding my breath about it being accepted because there will be thousands of entries from all over the world.! My design inspiration came from Athos Bulcão, a Brazilian artist.  It was quilted by a fellow TVMQG member Nancy Thomas.

Boxed In Quilt Top

I simply love this stack of fabric!  It followed me home from Norway.  

On the tour, we visited Kathrines Quilte Stue, in Oslo.  They were very gracious and even served us tea.  I put this stack together while walking around the shop.

This pattern is a freebie, it can be found on the Benartex.com Free Pattern Page, it's called Boxed In.  I thought it was a perfect way to showcase these fabrics.

A Quick Finish!

I started this pillow cover during my trip to Norway.  Tildas World generously provided all the fabric for this folded star project.  Tula, the designer was very sweet.  The pillow cover is 18" square.

For the blue strip on the pillow back, I used the burrito pillowcase method; I feel very clever!

I'm glad to be able to check this off my list.  Now, I think I'm ready to start a new project!

The Giving Quilts are complete

I'm so happy that I can check these as finished.  I'm biased, but I think they turned out really well.  These are my 4th and 5th finishes for 2018!

 Each quilt is different.  I made the quilt tops in February as samplers for my guild.  We'd been "building 12.5" blocks for a year and I presented these as a prototype for assembly of the blocks into charity quilts.  If you want to make something similar, the tutorial is here.

I'm early, I'm always early

In March I issued a new challenge to the members of the TVMQG ~ A Charm Pack Challenge.  Most modern quilters don't use many pre-cuts, like charm packs or jelly rolls; so I thought a challenge was called for.

The challenge is due at our September meeting.  Mine is really now because I never leave anything to the last minute.

For the quilt top, I used 6 Cookies & Cream 40 Karat Gems charm packs from Wilmington Fabrics.  I like that half the squares are white and half are cream.  They all have a subtle white on white print.

I grabbed a handful of my favorite colorful scraps and make an odd shaped triangle on one corner of each charm.  When I laid them out my only concerns were alternating the white and cream square and having the triangles touch.  I didn't care if they co-ordinated, I just wanted a butterfly-ish shape.

For the quilt back I had some gray Lizzie House that didn't get used in another project, so I used it here.  The binding is one of my favorite blues, Kona Windsor.  I always keep it on hand and I just reordered it.

The quilt measures 54' square.

Paint Chip Challenge Quilt

I've completed the Any Which Way quilt for my guilds' Paint Chip Challenge.  It's due at the February meeting, but I never leave anything to the last minute. I based this design on a quilt from 2015 Quiltcon, Profits & Losses by Gina Pina. Austin, Texas.  I found it via this blog post.  I couldn't find any other information, so I made up my own pattern.  I like how it turned out.

I started this quilt on 12/20/2017 and finished it on 1/28/2018, my long arm quilter really came through for me.  The quilt measures 43.5" x 56".

Folksy Flock Quilt for Oden is complete!

This quilt was requested in September, I promised it for January, and I'm happy to say it's finished!  You can read about my journey making it here.

This quilt is Full Bed size, 81" x 101".  Oden requested a quilt with a pattern and a white background, and that's what he's getting.
