Best Friends QAL, the first one is complete

Boy, photographing a queen-size quilt is a challenge.  I finally hung it from the rain gutter, above the garage door.  I really love how this turned out.  It's a housewarming gift for a great couple.

I had 6 quilts to put the binding on and this is #5, only one more to go, and it's another Best Friends quilt.

The Froggy-Girl Quilt is Complete!

One of my cousins, actually one of my cousins' granddaughters, loves frogs. She's 40 years old and legally blind. She has very limited vision; she started losing her vision at 3 years old. She's a trained chef and loves photography. She works as a nanny. And she's one of my favorite people.

When I cut out the frogs from the Tula Pink fabric, I didn't have enough, so I threw in some owls! The quilt top measures 48 inches square.

The Sparkling Patchwork Quilt is complete

I really love how this Sparkling Patchwork Quilt turned out.  It's hot and the sun is very bright today, so the colors look a bit faded.  That blue is Kona Windsor Blue, one of my favorites.

You can read how I made this quilt from this post.  For the quilt back, I used the leftover striped fabric, since I hadn't used any on the front of the quilt.

This shows my new favorite panto, Dragonflies!  And below was my attempt at an "arty" photo!  😂

What time is it?

It's binding time!  These six quilts need binding!  Two are queen-size and the others are lap quilts.  I better get busy because my LAQ has six more; three will be ready at the end of June and three will be ready at the end of July.

This pandemic has really kept me busy making quilts.  I'd rather be creating than binding, but, "Oh, Well"!

A Scrappy Dresden Fan Quilt Top

This small quilt top was made with some of the leftover Tula Pink pieces from the Round Stroller Quilt Top.  I've packed the remaining Tula Pink scraps away for now!

A Round Stroller Quilt

I'm going to be a Great Grammy, in the Fall,  I recently read that round quilts are ideal for using with baby strollers.  They have no corners to drag or get caught in the wheels.  I also thought this would be a great playmat.  I'm still using up scraps from the two Best Friends QAL quilts.

The circle measures 44" across.

Sparkling Patchwork quilt top

I'm calling this the Sparkling Patchwork quilt top and it's complete!  I made 9-patches and 4-patches from the scraps of my last 3 quilt tops, the two Best Friends QALs and the Froggy-Girl quilt top.  I contemplated adding a small border but vetoed that thought. It measures 51" x 43".

I still have more scraps and I have ideas!  Stay tuned

The Froggy-Girl Quilt Top

When I was working on the two Best Friends QAL quilt tops, one of my favorite people reminded me that she LOVES frogs!  She is my cousin's granddaughter.  She's 40 years old and legally blind.  She has limited vision; she started losing her vision at 3 years old.  She's a trained chef and loves photography.  She works as a nanny.

When I cut out the frogs from the Tula Pink fabric, I didn't have enough, so I threw in some owls!  The quilt top measures 48 inches square.

Best Friends QAL, First Quilt Top is Assembled

I'm making two of these Best Friends Quilts at the same time.  This is the first quilt top assembled.  I included the bottom photo so you could see how freakin' big this is!  I didn't measure it, but it's supposed to be 96 inches square.  Talk about fabric-wrangling!

Now, to work assembling the second quilt top.

Best Friends Quilt Along

I decided to do the Best Friends Quilt Along, sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop.  I did a fabric pull from my stash, including 2 different quilt kits that I decided not to make.

Then I got busy.  I decided to make 2 sets of everything, so I will end up with two Queen-size Quilts.  The blocks are all paper-pieced, the first block was a Log Cabin.  Here are my 24 Log Cabin Blocks.

I just laid them out willy-nilly!  They turned out to be Improv Log Cabin blocks because I made an error and didn't want to use Jack to fix it.  I just kept going and I think they're fine.  The next block is an Economy Block and I only need to make 16 total!
